Diapers: to pack or not to pack? That was the question rattling around my brain as I zipped open my suitcase and prepared for My Traveling Troop's trip to Pattaya, Thailand.
The amount of diapers my four-month-old baby required for a one-week stay in Pattaya took up a lot of room in the suitcase. I was torn between taking all of those diapers or packing just enough to last until I found a store in Pattaya.
I ended up stuffing a week's worth of diapers into the suitcase and I'm glad I did.
The diapers ran out a couple days before my family left Pattaya, and my husband and I had to go to three different stores to find a suitable pack.
The first store only sold diapers in packs of three, which my baby would use up in a matter of hours. Plus, the store only had a couple packs in my baby's size. The second store sold diapers in packs of five. Finally, at the third store, diapers were sold in packs of 15. Jackpot!
I can only imagine how stressed I would have been if I had to go on a scavenger hunt for diapers in a city I was unfamiliar with when I first arrived in Pattaya. Since I arrived armed with nappies, I was able to focus on relaxing, floating in the hotel pool and touring Pattaya attractions for the majority of my trip. By the time I ran out, I had a better sense of where stores were located and didn't mind spending a day looking for a shop selling what I needed. The other plus of packing diapers? They are great space savers! We were able to fit our souvenirs in the suitcase where the diapers once sat.
Do you pack diapers when you travel or do you just buy them when you get to your destination?
