Yesterday, I revealed that I want to travel to different destinations in Asia and Europe in 2013. (You can check out the specific list of countries by clicking here.) The resolution to travel more definitely inspired my second goal for the New Year: to take a photography class!
As my family travels, we are bound to see some amazing sites and you can bet I'll have a camera with me. I love taking pictures and capturing beautiful landscapes, architecture and people. But, I want to learn how to do so with better detail, lighting and color. Vivid photographs can transport us all back to the destinations we've been to and the moment the pictures were taken. They're the best memento from a trip in my opinion! So, I think this is the year I need to learn how to snap photos with something other than a point and shoot. No more taking a hundred photos in hopes that one turns out right!

My husband has a Nikon D60 - a camera that a knowledgeable photographer can use to take wonderful, detailed photographs. The problem is the darn thing has intimidated me ever since my husband first pulled it out of the box! I'm hoping a class will help me figure out what all those buttons are for. :)

I've kind of learned how to use my slr through trial and error but I'd love to take a photography class or two to hone in on my skills. Dint be intimidated by your husbands camera - just go for it!
Hello..I agree, learning to use your camera is a must to take great travel photos. I have a degree in photography yet I think I learned the most after college by just practicing over and over. There is a great forum called ilovephotography.com that taught me a lot. Good luck!
Good luck with your photography class! I'm self-taught and just practiced a lot on my kids in the beginning. In anticipation of upcoming overseas moves, I'm planning to sign up for a class at the local college... I'm hopeful there's always something new to learn!
