Moving Mondays: Something Borrowed

Monday, August 13, 2012

My Traveling Troop has been in Singapore for a month and a half and we still don't have our furniture yet. We've been asking families around the neighborhood how long it took them to receive their household goods from the states and the average length of time seems to be about two months. Here's hoping that that will be the timeframe for our furniture's arrival! Nothing makes you feel more settled in than sleeping in your own bed and relaxing on your own couch.

In the meantime, we are not roughing it in our new home. Our express shipment arrived, containing useful items like dishes, towels and our much-needed coffee maker. Also, the housing office here lent us some furniture until our bigger shipment of household goods arrives. We borrowed two beds, night stands, a couch (which is pictured above), a coffee table and a dining table. The borrowed furniture has allowed us to live in our new home comfortably and go about our daily routine. I don't even want to think about what it would have been like if the three of us had to sleep on an air mattress and sit on hardwood floors for two months!

Cheers,
Kristina

Wow! It must be tough not to have all your stuff, but at least you've got the coffee maker. :)
