My To Do List For Spring

It finally feels like Spring around here, and there is something about the sunny, breezy weather that has inspired me to take on a few projects. So, I thought I would share the top four things I would love to accomplish before the season ends:
1. Spring cleaning. I don’t know about you, but when we moved into our new home, my first priority was to unpack all of the boxes and shove their contents into various closets and drawers so that I didn’t have to see them anymore. Not high on my priority list was organizing said closets and drawers. But with various family members and friends planning to visit us over the next few months, I better get started!

2. Plant some flowers and herbs. We may not have a backyard, but we do have two small decks overlooking the ocean. The only problem is that the decks are as bare as can be. So, it’s time to spruce them up with some small tables and chairs, as well as some potted flowers and herbs that I can use for cooking.
3. Run. It’s time to take advantage of the weather and strap on my running shoes on a more regular basis. Not only will running be a great way to stay in shape, but a beautiful way to get to know the neighborhoods and trails of Monterey, Calif., and the surrounding areas. Admittedly, I can’t count on just the weather to keep me inspired. After all, I might not want to venture far from my couch if the weather becomes overcast or rainy. So, I signed up for two races to help keep me motivated: a 12K in San Francisco called Bay to Breakers and the Big Sur Half Marathon in Monterey. Wish me luck!
4. Take a Spanish class. It’s always been a goal of mine to learn Spanish fluently. I took a couple of Spanish classes a few years ago, but stopped when I got pregnant with my daughter and subsequently got busy with mommyhood and work. Now that my schedule has eased up a bit, it’s time to dust off those old Spanish text books and take a class.
What are your goals for Spring?
Adios!
Kristina
P.S. Aren't the flowers in the wagon pictured above gorgeous? Many thanks to my mother-in-law, Trisha, who came with me to a local plant nursery today and helped me pick the flowers out. I am now well on my way to crossing one thing off my to do list for Spring! :)

  1. Those are great Ideas... I'm dying to have even a small backyard so I can enjoy my plants. I love Lilies, I have 6 of them growing in a pot ( diferent colors, but my fav one is the PINK LILIUM ORIENTAL STARGAZER).

  2. I know you'll do great with your running, and I'm jealous of your weather. I am informally training for a half-marathon in June!
Also, Lillian and Princess Pointy are wishing you the best of luck in your gardening endeavors! : )

  3. I have some herbs and onions planted, but I am so eager to get some flowers out front to add some color! The flowers you picked out are gorgeous; good luck with planting them.

I also would like to tackle some spring cleaning and organizing. Maybe I'll get around to it one of these days!

My biggest goal for the spring is to get our baby's nursery decorated and organized. All of his things have been sitting in piles on the floor for weeks, and it's about time to get everything ready for his arrival!

  4. Love your ideas - cleaning and organizing for spring is always at the top of my list, but somehow I never accomplish what I want. Were you able to get organized, and, if so, how did you do it?? I need help!

  5. Angelina,

I bet your flowers are beautiful! I think potted plants are a great way to spruce up small porches and decks, making one feel - even for a short while - like they are in a back yard. :) As for the rest of your comment, I look forward to responding in Spanish once I get a few more classes under my belt!

    Besos,

  6. Samantha,

Decorating the nursery was certainly one of the most fun experiences I had during my first pregnancy. I hope your nursery-decorating experience is also a fun and memorable one! And I hope to see pictures on your blog some day.

    Cheers,
    Kristina

  7. Nicole,

As a stay at home mom who spends most of each day taking my daughter to various play dates and tot classes, finding time to organize the entire house can be tough. So, I am going to tackle one room at a time during her nap times and see how far I get. I'll keep you posted on the process and any tips I learn along the way! :)

    Cheers,
    Kristina
